Few names are establishing themselves so firmly in the world of acting like Edith Diamond Gibson. A multi-talented actress, Edith Diamond Gibson takes acting on a compelling journey of thoughts and emotions within every scene. She starred in Silk White’s “Be Careful What You Ask For” and has appeared in a few other web series. Edith is currently playing a recurring role in the production of Angelique Jones’s sitcom “4 My Girls” and has starred in Derrick Thomas’s theatre stage play “This Life: The Musical”. Not only is Edith Diamond Gibson an astounding actress, but she also wears many other hats. In her time away from acting, she’s a stylist, dispatcher, baker, and make-up artist. Some of her hobbies include singing, learning different languages, and writing poetry. 

LS: What attracted you to begin a career as an actor?

DG: My brothers used to act back in 2013. So I was also attracted to the thought of it, but my good friend Silk White is the one who got m started.

LS: Of all the roles you have played in the past, which is your favorite?

DG: My role as Antigone in the current project “4 my girls” is my favorite. It allows people to see a different side of me than the mean or selfish roles I’ve played. I’m down-to-earth and goofy, so this role will enable me to be myself.

LS: Where does your creativity flow? How do you avoid burning out?

DG: My creativity flows through my experiences. Every role has some familiarity with what I’ve already experienced. If it doesn’t initially, I make it seem familiar.

LS: What was the most defining time in your career?

DG: The most defining one in my career was when the movie “Be Careful What You Ask For” was released. People got to see an entirely different person. I played a role that I’m nothing like.

LS: There’s a heavy cost to pursuing and pulling your vision together. Who is your biggest support system throughout your journey?

DG: Honestly, I still don’t have a huge support system, but I can do a lot because of my mother. She is my backbone. For every day I’m on set or rehearsing, she’s available to watch my son and daughter. She’s my village. Ultimately, God has been looking out for me. When I thought I couldn’t do anything, he created these opportunities.

LS: How do you think COVID has affected the film industry?

DG: I think COVID limited some opportunities for certain people, but I also believe that it brought the best out of people. It had its pros and cons. For instance, a lot of agencies aren’t looking at too many new faces. Those who are requiring a vaccine or mandatory test, regardless of whether you’re against it.

LS: You inspire so many. How does that make you feel?

DG: I love it. I love everything about it. I’ve always said my main goal in life was to help people. There have been people that I haven’t spoken to in years who now reach out to me for guidance and advice. Putting myself there allows me to.

LS: If you could change anything about the film industry, what would it be?

DG: I would change the process of selecting people for specific roles. A lot of casting directors are overlooking some serious talent all because they don’t have representation.

LS: What advice do you have for aspiring actors/actresses?

DG: I would advise them to work diligently. Get everything you need in order before contacting agencies or casting directors. Make sure headshots and resumes are properly done.

LS: You have accomplished so much. What was the concept and passion behind Acting for Beginners?

DG: The concept and passion came from me. Don’t get me wrong, I do this for my children, but I also do it for me. My mother always told me I have to be good to make sure my children are. I’m a lupus warrior, and my fear was leaving this world before making sure my children were set up. Being on a set income wasn’t getting me anywhere. I couldn’t provide for them like I wanted to. I also wanted to break generational curses and cycles. So I had to do something and acting was my breakthrough.

LS: What is the vision you have for your brand and career? What will your top priorities be moving forward?

DG: My vision is to create opportunities for individuals with disabilities. I want to create something huge. I’ll just let y’all see.

LS: What is your passion beyond acting?

DG: Beyond acting, my passion is baking. My grandmother always loved to bake, and she passed it all down to me.

LS: What is next for Diamond Gibson?

DG: Next, I plan to star in more movies, but ultimately, I want to start creating them. I hope you all continue to support me on this journey.
